Rossland Recollections With Ron Dennett

Join long-time Museum Volunteer Ron Dennett

at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre at 1 pm on Wednesday, May 31st for a special repeat presentation about the Murphy Creek Headwaters Plane Crash.

On October 18, 1947, a Royal Canadian Air Force plane carrying nine people - seven RCAF crew members and two civilians - crashed near Mount Plewman in the Rossland Range. There were no survivors. Five years later, in October of 1952, Wilf Gibbard came across the remnants of the plane. Much of the story of that fateful flight remains a mystery.

Ron Dennett, pilot and RMDC volunteer & researcher, has been digging into this story for many years. Join us at the Museum to hear his presentation about this tragic crash and the discovery of the wreckage.

Rossland Recollections is a Senior-focused Speaker Series where pillars of the Rossland Community will recount the stories that make up the very foundation of Rossland Culture and Community.

Join the Museum for select Wednesday afternoon presentations where we will enjoy snacks, refreshments, and stories of days passed that have become legends, lore, and origin stories of this incredible place we call home.

This programming, in partnership with local seniors, is open to all ages from the youngest of old souls to the oldest of the young-at-heart.
