We offer displays on Rossland’s social, cultural, and sport history, Consolidated Mining & Smelting Company and industry/geology in the region, West Kootenay Power & Light Co., Rossland/Red Mountain Skiing history, and other interesting exhibits and photographs depicting the early history of Rossland.

Our Visitor Centre

The Visitor Centre is located at the museum for all visitors' travel information needs. We carry provincial accommodation guides, road maps, travel guides, camping guides, and many other provincial, regional, and local brochures. It also offers a place to rest and relax with coffee/tea by donation and free Wi-Fi. Concession snacks are also available year round. Accessible Public Washrooms and RV Parking.

Tour Times

Outdoor Tours are run daily through the summer. Each tour is approximately 1 hour, ending with a gold panning demonstration:

Mid-May-May 31st:                                    12:00 & 14:00

June, July, & August:                                    11:00, 13:00, 15:00

Remainder of the year: Weather dependent. Please book ahead.
Indoor tours may be available in the winter months. Please book ahead.

School/Group Tours and facility rentals within or outside of regular hours may be available throughout the year. Please contact us for more information.

Are you a member of a partner Association of Science-Technology Centre institution? That membership includes a reciprocal admission to our facility! Just show your ASTC member card at the front.

Keep an eye on our upcoming events for many “by donation” days throughout the year (including Canada Day, Golden City Days, Winter Carnival, and more!).

Are you a new Canadian citizen? We are a partner and pick-up location for the Canoo program (formerly Cultural Access Pass). Canoo is a mobile app that helps new Canadian citizens celebrate their citizenship by providing free admission to over 1400 museums, science centres, art galleries, parks, and historic sites across Canada. The app offers free admission for every new citizen and up to four children, every time they visit for the first year of citizenship. The Canoo app is available for free on the App Store and Google Play.

Group Rates

Group rates are available for groups of fifteen or more people. Group tours must make a reservation by contacting the museum with at least 48 hours notice.

School Groups

School groups can select from a number of existing curriculum-based programs for all grades. Popular highlights are gold panning and viewing mineral samples. Teachers are welcome to prepare their own learning outcome or worksheet, and we have past samples available on request. Tours usually run around 1.5 hours with gold panning included.
