The Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre is an exciting alternative for your next event. The space rents for $300 per event (up to 4 hours). This price includes access to the grounds, museum, and theatre. Our competitive rates compare favourably to other spaces of the same size and nature with the added benefit of a very unique atmosphere.
A non-refundable $100 deposit is required to hold a reservation and an additional fee of $50 per hour is charged on rentals outside of our public operating hours. Rental discounts of 10% are available for museum members.
The Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre offers 6000 square feet of rentable space and can comfortably accommodate parties of more than 100 guests indoors. The museum also offers access to a warming kitchen, an operating kegerator (19L keg required) in a replica bar, bathroom facilities, a 30-seat theatre, and the incredible surrounding displays and exhibitions on Rossland’s history. The museum grounds offer beautiful mountain views, gardens, a covered gazebo, and many larger historical displays. Unlike many facilities, you are renting our space with full access to the museum attraction.

Kitchen supplies (wine glasses, water glasses, coffee mugs, utensils, serving dishes, coffee urns, water dispensers, limited plates and bowls) - $50
Event set-up (tables and chairs) - $50

Decorating and Decor (centrepieces, specialty lighting, holiday décor, etc) - $50
A/V equipment (projector, projector screen, clip-on microphone, speaker) - $50

Movies being shown in the theatre must be owned by the venue renter (if streaming, you must have proof of purchase). If you are charging guests to watch the movie, you must have proper licensing in place and proof of license must be shown. Let us know what film you are wanting to show before booking.
Regular Operating Hours:
Single Feature: $90/2 hours (approx. run time for one film)
Double Feature: $150/ 4 hours (approx. run time for two films)
Single Feature: $125/2 hours (approx. run time for one film)
Double Feature: $200/ 4 hours (approx. run time for two films)
Birthday party bookings include:
Use of the party space for up to two hours (includes tables and chairs)
Access to the museum and grounds, including train (summer), gold panning, theatre, gazebo, etc.
$50 Add-on: Museum helper to run a special program for you and provide themed activities, a museum tour, or a private movie in our Cominco Theatre.

Fun Fossils Party
Kids will get to travel back in time and learn the basics of paleontology. Make your own dinosaur trackway in clay, practice excavating chocolate chips from a chocolate chip cookie with tooth-picks, examine real fossils from Fruitvale, and make an imprint of a real fossil in Fimo clay that you can take home with you as a necklace. Recommended ages 5+ yr
Let it Glow! Party
Don't be afraid of the dark! We will dig into chemistry to make glowing polymer worms, glowing blobs in tubes and glow in the dark constellation paintings that you can take home with you! Recommended ages 5+ yr
Into the Wild Party! (Owl Pellet Dissection)
Students will be provided with everything they need to dissect an owl pellet. Owls roost in the compressor shed on the museum property; a sign of animals returning to industrial areas. 14 days advanced booking is required for this party add-on. Recommended ages 7+ yrs
Magnet Earth Party
We will discover what magnets are through sorting activities and how to transfer magnetism to other metals. Let’s wrap up the party by making a batch of homemade slime! 14 days advance booking is required for this party add-on. Recommended ages 4+ yrs
Rock Detectives Party
Bring your curiosity to solve these mineral mysteries! Budding geologists will use advanced methods to identify rocks and minerals just like real geologists! Rock sorting and identification using scientific methods, a tour of our geology corner, and let’s crack open some geodes! Recommended ages 7+ yrs (great for little readers and detectives)
Air Takes up Space
Air takes up space! We'll fly ping pong balls with a hair dryer, hold a glass of water upside down, and watch a candle suck an egg into a bottle! Recommended for ages 4+ yrs
Up to 12 children: $100.00

THE FINE PRINT:
The Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre is a non-smoking environment (both indoors and outdoors)
Events hosted during regular operating hours will not be private as we are the local visitor centre. The museum will still be accessible to the public.
Special occasion/liquor permits are required to serve alcohol and must be obtained by the renter
Tables serving alcohol must be monitored by Smart Serve/Serving It Right certified individuals.
Food and drink service areas are restricted to the Museum Main Hall, Entrance Gallery, or outdoors
Catering heat sources must be approved by Museum staff prior to use
Cut flowers from a florist that have been conditioned in cold storage are permitted
Candles and potted & garden plants are prohibited
Renters are responsible for clean-up of the food service area and the return of any borrowed items to appropriate storage areas (unless you have purchased the Event Clean Up add-on)
Additional fees will be charged for the following: docent or curator tours of the exhibitions, linens, kitchen supplies, dishes and glassware, tables, chairs, decoration and equipment setup, event clean-up, A/V equipment (projector, screen, microphone, etc.)
