About Sarah Parrell
Sarah is a lifelong artist with over 30 years of creative experience and a love of making art fun, accessible, and a little bit magical. Known locally as “Face Painting with Yarnia,” she has been a familiar creative presence at many community events. As the former owner of Yarnia Craft Closet, Sarah taught a wide range of art and craft classes for all ages, and has also led programs through the Trail library and the Kootenay Brain Injury Association.
With a background in mental health and supporting children with diverse needs, she creates a welcoming, inclusive space where everyone can feel comfortable getting creative—no experience required. Her workshops are beginner-friendly, hands-on, and full of personality, encouraging kids to experiment, get a little messy, and discover that creativity doesn’t have to be perfect to be fun.
