Historic Places Days 2026

A2023.000.010.662 Rossland Museum, 1982

Did you know the Museum is a designated site of the national historic event: the Kootenay Mining Region? We'll be open by donation 10 am to 6 pm this weekend, July 18-19, to celebrate Historic Places Days.

Haven't experienced one of our guided tours yet? Now's your chance! We offer historical tours of the outdoor exhibits at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm daily through the summer. Included in admission - and free for members!

BUT WAIT – there's more!
The National Trust of Canada, which organizes #HistoricPlacesDays, is running a photo contest too. From July 11–19, 2026, the National Trust for Canada invites you to take part in Historic Places Days through the “Every Place Communicates a Story” Photo Contest. Capture a participating historic place (yes, that includes the Rossland Museum!) that matters to you and share the story it tells for a chance to win one of 25 prizes, including:

• A grand prize of $1,000 for you and $1,000 for the historic site you feature
• Three bonus prizes of $500
• Passes, subscriptions, or memberships

With hundreds of historic sites and events open across Canada this summer, this is your chance to explore, connect, and use your lens to tell us about the places that matter to you.
