October Speaker Series: Safe Haven with Amber Peters

SPECIAL SCREENING! We're excited to announce a special presentation of the new documentary Safe Haven: The Rainbow-Jordan Wilderness with an introduction from biologist Amber Peters. From the environmental champions at Valhalla Wilderness Society and filmmaker Damien Gillis, this 30-minute documentary highlights the globally significant Inland Temperate Rainforest encompassed in VWS’s Rainbow-Jordan Wilderness Park proposal.
You won't want to miss this event, as this film has already been selected for the Colorado Environmental Film Festival, the Fernie Mountain Film Festival, and WON Best Environmental Film through the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF). It was also recently selected for the VIMFF world tour! See it here at the Rossland Museum at 6 pm on Wednesday, October 1st. Entry by donation.
Amber Peters
Amber Peters is a Registered Professional Biologist in the province of British Columbia. She is in her eighth year of campaigning to protect British Columbia's most ancient remaining Inland Temperate Rainforest ecosystems with the Valhalla Wilderness Society. Following a long legacy of wilderness protection, Amber's involvement in the campaign to protect the Society's Selkirk Mountain Caribou Park proposal helped achieve protection of the Incomappleux rainforest as a 58,000 hectare conservancy in 2023. Her experience includes research and conservation initiatives for species at risk, including Deep-snow Mountain Caribou, Grizzly Bears and Western Toads.
