New Outreach Exhibit - Small Items, Big Stories!

Ever wondered about the stories behind the artifacts at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre? Well, let us introduce you to some of our smallest artifacts with the biggest stories.

Based off of last year’s Collection Assistant Claire’s Night at the Museum presentation, Small Items, Big Stories! explores some of the Museum’s smallest artifacts and the stories behind them. What these artifacts lack in size, they definitely make up for in history!

Artifacts featured will include cover a wide array of topics, including the Rossland’s bakeries, Cominco, and the CPR, to name a few. Small Items, Big Stories will be on display at the Rossland Public Library throughout the summer.

New artifacts will be displayed monthly, so check back each month to learn about a new artifact and its story!

We want to hear from you! Each set of artifacts will ask you a question related to what is on display. We will be showcasing your answers on social media throughout the month.

This month’s question is what do you collect?

For the museum staff it’s thimbles, animal skulls, and brooches (you can almost always find our Collections Manager wearing one)

Thank you to the Rossland Public Library for being such a big supporter of our outreach exhibit program! Without our amazing community partners, this program would not exist.
