Our Seniors' WorkshopS ARE back

This year, we’re exploring some of the topics that you have asked for!

The workshop Sessions include:

Caring for heirloom Textiles

This workshop will give you tips, tricks, and skills to ensure the safety of the textiles that carry your family's stories and traditions. Come prepared to learn the basics of storing textiles, how to make padded hangers, and how to avoid the most frequent fabric follies using some of the museum's textile collection - with guidance from our Collections Manager.

Care of Photos & Digitization

Our next workshop is all about photographs and how best to care for them! Learn how to handle, store, and preserve your family's photographs for future generations. We'll explore storage methods, documentation, repairs, digitization techniques, and what can put your photos at risk. We'll be bringing some digitization equipment, so feel free to bring a few photographs or negatives that you would like to digitize with the help of our Collections staff!

Book Repair Basics

Calling all book lovers! Our final Senior Workshop in this series is all about basic book repairs. Join our Collections Manager for this hands-on repair workshop and learn about what you can do to preserve your favourite books and repair them if they need it. Have a book or two in your collection that needs some minor repairs? Fantastic! Bring it with you and do the repairs under the guidance of our staff. If you don't have any books that need repairs, you can practice with ours!
