Decking the Halls of the Museum!

Our elves have been hard at work sprucing up the museum for the holidays!

FROM DECKING THE HALLS IN THE HUNTER BROTHERS STORE TO GINGERBREAD COOKIES BAKING IN THE KITCHEN, THE MUSEUM SURE HAS A FESTIVE TWIST THIS WINTER.

Regular hours: Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10-5 December 24th: limited hours, 11-4 December 25th and January 1st: closed

We can’t wait to host a variety of holiday inspired S.T.E.A.M. day events throughout December, but the holiday spirit has already taken over the Museum. Our staff has spent the last few weeks stringing garland, sprinkling snow, and helping our mannequin family with their Christmas presents. St. Nick has even stopped by for a relaxing Rossland vacation before his big night… see if you can spot him the next time you’re in!

Stop by the Rossland Vices bar to see the what festive drinks would have been offered or what gifts have been left under the tree. Our Hunter Brothers Store may not have a large window display, but the stockings have been hung with care, and there is a pile of holiday orders waiting to be picked up by the likes of Dr. Topliff and Harry Lefevre. Take a peak into the Parlour to see what our interns picked out for the mannequin family during their shopping spree in the collections room. Artifacts on display include Father Pat’s watch and other selections from our accessories collection.

We also wanted to spread the holiday cheer with our amazing community partners down at the Rossland Public Library! This year’s holiday display is all about the history of gift giving and highlights festive traditions from around the world like Diwali, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Christmas. Tied Up With A Bow features a variety of children’s toys from the collection and will be on display for the month of December. You can see the exhibit during the Library’s regular hours - Tues - Thurs 10-6, and Fri-Sat 10-4.

A huge thank you to the Rossland Public Library for their continued support of our outreach exhibit program!

Help us Decorate Our Tree!

We're excited to be gearing up for the holidays, and we've got the decorations to prove it! But we're looking for your help: we've got one tree still waiting to be decorated. Stop by the Museum to make a donation, and you can hang an ornament on our tree! We are so grateful for any donations -- they allow us to carry on the research, programming, and community-building work we love!

You can also donate from afar with our online store!

Red ornament - $12 and under
Green ornament - $12-$20
Silver ornament - $20-$35
Gold ornament - more than $35

This year, we have options for your donations: you can designate whether you want the funds to go towards general operations or our Renewal project!

Thanks for your support!
