Mike Wigley - Tales from a Splitboarder: Walking to Glory

The Rossland Museum December Speaker Series was a spirited kick-off to the winter season! We welcomed Mike Wigley who shared his stories of splitboarding on and around the largest peak in the Rossland Range - Old Glory Mountain. This mountain has long captivated Mike and his stories and beautiful photos certainly captivated all in attendance at his talk on December 2nd.

We were excited to be able to host this event in person, although capacity was limited.

Thanks, Mike, for sharing your stories with us!

A video recording of Mike’s presentation is below. Mike was introduced by Rossland Museum Researcher Sarah Taekema-Slot.

About Mike Wigley:

Mike Wigley, known fondly by all as Wiggles, is a ginger giant who has always stood out in Rossland. From his inspiring pursuits and dedication to a life lived in the mountains, to his work as a splitboard guide, he’s a man who has already lived a lifetime of remarkable adventures. He moved to Rossland in 2005 and began split boarding shortly thereafter in 2007. During the 13 years he called Rossland home, he was never as captivated by a peak in the Kootenays as he is by Old Glory. He considers Old Glory to be an old friend was thrilled to speak about the times he’s shared with that very special peak.
