Don’t Stop the Music: 70 Years of the RLOP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROSSLAND/TRAIL, BC – The Rossland Light Opera Players can finally celebrate 70 years of music and theatre, and the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre will be celebrating right along with them!

The Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre (RMDC) wishes to congratulate the Rossland Light Opera Players (RLOP) on 70 years of performing! To celebrate, the RLOP are pleased to finally be staging their anniversary performance (delayed from 2021 due to COVID-19) titled, "Don't Stop the Music: 70 Years of the RLOP," written and directed by longtime RLOP member, Jamie Santano.

This is your opportunity to see what happens behind the doors of the Bodega! Ever wonder what it takes to put on a show? Let us take you on a 70-year journey through the history of the RLOP. With beloved characters and past members, “Don’t Stop the Music” will bring to life the story of the RLOP and those who made it what it is today
— Jamie Santano

"Don’t Stop the Music: 70 Years of the RLOP" takes you on a tour of the hall and showcases events from past performances from 1952 to the present day. With colourful characters from some of Broadway’s best and members loved and lost, the show brings to life the stories, laughter, and extremely hard work that goes into creating the amazing performances the Rossland Light Opera Players has been delighting audiences with for the past seventy years.

The RMDC has been collaborating with the RLOP over the past year to develop an exhibit on marquee performances throughout their history as well as a video documenting their history, the storied RLOP hall (Bodega Hotel) and their upcoming performance.

We’re thrilled to be helping share the RLOP’s long and theatrical history! The RLOP is a community treasure, and we are happy that we’re able to be included in celebrating their anniversary!
— Sara Wright, RMDC Collections Manager
