This year for our Veterans Week temporary exhibit, we researched and highlighted four veterans who served in WWII and returned to Rossland. The exhibit will be up through the month of November. |

2011.8.20 - Jr Board of Trade Salvage Drive Patch Salvage drives were conducted during WWII as a way to gather extra supplies like tires, metal, and fabric for the war effort The Rossland Junior Board of Trade was founded in March 1938 to promote skiing tourism Some of the Junior Board of Trade's early projects were building the rope tow at Red Mountain and connecting with nearby ski clubs.

2021.1.3 - Nurse's Cape Capes like this were worn by nurses (like those in the Red Cross) to stay warm and dry in the elements During WWII, the Rossland branch of the Red Cross was lead by Mrs. R.W. Clark This group of women worked tirelessly to raise money for the war effort, create food packages, and sew clothing for troops and refugees both in Canada and overseas. By the end of the war, the Rossland branch of the Red Cross had raised an estimated $15,000 (approximately $260,000 today) and created close to 50,000 pieces of clothing and other textiles.
