October Speaker Series: Safe Haven with Amber Peters

SPECIAL SCREENING! We're excited to announce a special presentation of the new documentary Safe Haven: The Rainbow-Jordan Wilderness with an introduction from biologist Amber Peters.

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation

10 am to 5 pm Tuesday, September 30th

We'll be open by donation all day on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - all donations going to the Indian Residential School Survivors' Society. Join us at the Museum to hear about Sinixt culture from Sinixt voices, with showings of the award-winning 1-hour documentary Snk̓míp Dig Deeper at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3:30 pm, and the short films Take it to the Water and Learning mxiɬp playing in between. Stop by to check out our resources and learn a little more about our hosts here on k̓maʔrqn̓, or Red Mountain.

2025 Halloween at the Rossland Museum

1 - 4 pm Sunday, October 26th

Join us for a fang-tastic, family-friendly Halloween bash you won’t want to miss! All ages welcome - admission is by donation all day. We’re stocked with treats, spooky surprises, and loads of fun. Mark your calendars and come celebrate Halloween the museum way!

Genealogy Club

The next meeting of the Genealogy Club will be 1-3 pm on Tuesday, September 30th. The Genealogy Club typically meets on the last Tuesday of the month and is open to everyone. Please bring your genealogical challenges, your smiles, and your documents and we will help each other to solve problems and create family trees. New Interactive Mine Map!

Thanks to funding from Heritage BC’s Heritage Legacy Fund and community members, we have a brand new interactive mining map in the J.D. McDonald Hall!

Volunteer Call-Out

Do you know anyone who’s planning to drive out from Calgary any time soon? We need help getting our hands on a stuffed mountain goat! The goat (we’re calling him “Gary”) has been donated to the Museum collection and we look forward to incorporating him into our exhibit display - but we need to get him here first! Gary is about 48” x 40” x 12”. The base, which separates from the goat, is 40” x 16” x 12”. We need to pick him up before November 11th. If you might be able to help, please get in touch with Sara at artifacts@rosslandmuseum.ca!

Our annual fall work bee is scheduled for 4-6 pm on Monday, October 20th! The incomparable Rossland Rotary Club will be helping us out with all the odds and ends to help us close up the Upper Level exhibits for the winter. If you want to come help, swing on by! 2021.4.5 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Hat

The Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary is the female branch of the Fraternal Order of Eagles
Uniforms for both the men and women's sections are the same - a rarity for fraternal societies - vest with tassels and a blue and red cap
The Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #10 ran from 1946 to 2012
The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #10 is the last of the original Rossland fraternal societies that is still operating today (126 years)

2022.8.3 Order of the Eastern Star Jewel

Patricia Piper's Order of the Eastern Star Patron Matron pin/jewel from 1973
These were given to the heads of the chapter after the served their term, when their titles would change from “Worthy Matron” and “Worthy Patron” to “Past Matron” and “Past Patron”
Rossland's branch of the Order of the Eastern Star Alpha Chapter No. 1 was the first chapter of the organization in Canada
Alpha Chapter No. 1 operated in Rossland from 1899 to 1994
