The Museum is open year-round! Summer Hours: open 10 am to 6 pm, seven days a week. Guided tours of the outdoor exhibits (included in admission) at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm daily through June, July, and August.

Travelling Exhibit: BC’s Marvellous Mushrooms

Just a little over a month left to see our travelling exhibit, BC's Marvellous Mushrooms, on loan from the Royal BC Museum until July 14! Entrance is included in regular admission and, of course, free for members!

The exhibit explores the science and practical uses of mushrooms today, highlighting some of the most fascinating of the 3,400 known species in the province. Featuring interpretive graphic panels, 3D-printed mushroom models and foraging equipment, the exhibition facilitates visitors’ understanding of BC mushrooms and their many uses.

Celebrate Canada 2026 at the Rossland Museum

June 2026 is packed with events, activities, and ideas to celebrate in the lead-up to July 1st! The Rossland Museum will be open with free entry (donations welcome) on each of the Celebrate Canada Days: National Indigenous Peoples Day, St. Jean Baptiste Day, National Multiculturalism Day, and Canada Day!

Canada Day in Rossland

Come out to the Rossland Museum for July 1st - we have an amazing line-up of activities, ceremony, community groups, cake, and live music from 11 am to 4 pm. Check out our games, crafts, and bouncy house fun, grab some food, and settle down to enjoy the show. The ceremony starts at noon, with a welcome by an address by the Mayor, singing of O Canada, and - of course - cake!

We're looking for volunteers to help out on the day of, as well as community groups/local businesses to set up info booths and kiosks on the lawn. Get in touch with Fiona at admin@ rosslandmuseum.ca to sign up!

Near the end of May 1948, eyes turned to the Columbia, and the Rossland Miner reported that "apprehension is being felt today in Trail as the Columbia River rises." Over the next few weeks, waters continued to rise, and homes in Trail suffered the worst flooding since 1894. Volunteers from Trail and Rossland leapt to help with emergency work, filling and distributing sandbags, building walls, and contributing to relief efforts in whatever way they could.

"In spite of the difficulties, and the heart-breaking task of pushing aside a mighty river, the work goes on," the Miner reported on June 10th. "Day and night, under improvised lighting, boys and girls of school age work side by side with men of Trail. Mothers and wives man Red Cross canteen points and keep up flagging strength with hot coffee and refreshments." Many houses in East Trail were severely damaged or even in risk of being washed away altogether. By mid-June, the flood waters were finally receding, leaving more than $30 million in damages and thousands of families without homes.

Community Quandaries: Do you remember Mrs B’s Teen Centre?

Do you remember Mrs B's Teen Centre? The youth centre was opened by Sandy Bobbitt in March 1996. By June of that year, it saw approximately 200 visits per weekend – Rosslanders as well as teens from Castlegar, Ymir, Trail, and Grand Forks, too. In time, it not only provided a safe place to spend time with friends and enjoy ping-pong and pool tables, board games, and music, but also offered food programs, counseling and crisis services, exercise classes, and more.

The volunteer-run centre operated until 2006. If you have stories or memories about Mrs. B's Teen Centre, please get in touch!
