Join us at the museum 6 pm Thursday, February 23

for our February Speaker Series event: Sinixt in the tmxʷúlaʔxʷ: History from the Heart of Sinixt Territory with political anthropoligst Lori Barkley.

Sinixt history in the West Kootenays spans thousands of years prior to the settler history of our region, yet few of us know the people who have called this land home since time immemorial. Political anthropologist Lori Barkley aims to support Sinixt resurgence in their tmxʷúlaʔxʷ (pronounced: "tem-hoo-lao") - homeland, and her most recent contribution in the publication Sinixt in the Slocan: The Last 3,000 Years is a continuation of this crucial goal. Lori continues building on her academic research to tell the story of a people fighting their bureaucratic extinction while navigating uncharted waters of Sinixt resurgence.

Entry is by donation and all proceeds will be donated to the Autonomous Sinixt.

Treats & refreshments will be available.
