August Night at the Museum

Join us for our final Night at the Museum of the summer! On the evening of August 19th, we'll be showcasing some of the fun projects our summer students have been working on! Entry by donation.

We'll also have property tours at 6 & 7 pm (please consider booking ahead) followed by gold panning demos as well as a bit of an open house to showcase our current designs for the Renewal Project Phase II: The Mine Experience.

Claire is showcasing some of the artifacts that she has come across during her summer as collections assistant. These aren’t just ordinary objects, though; they are especially small artifacts with BIG back stories.

Claire’s objects will cover a wide array of topics, including some of Rossland’s bakeries, Cominco, and the CPR to name a few. Although these objects are quite tiny, what they lack in size, they definitely make up for in history!

Archives Assistant Madysson will be showcasing different buildings and the boomtown period streetscape of Rossland through historical photos of Rossland and segments of the new audio downtown tour that she has created. The display will include photos from Columbia Ave to First St. from the 1890s through the early 1900s. Through historical photos and research, this display will give a detailed presentation to compare and contrast Rossland then and now!

Elena is showcasing different Rossland veterans who fought in the Boer War, World War One, and World War Two.

Included are some archival items send back to Canada while William Treverton was overseas during the Second World War, and a medal won by Ben Allen in the First World War.

Join Alicen for a guided tour around the outdoor exhibits at the Museum! Explore Rossland's pre-mining history through to the 1920s when the rich Rossland gold mines closed. Get up close to artifacts and hear fascinating stories! Tours will run at 6pm and 7pm.
